The Wind Sustainability Initiative (WSI) works to ensure the global wind energy supply chain can scale to meet global climate targets and the rising demand for wind power in a way that is resilient, sustainable, inclusive, and transparent. Through cross-border cooperation across the wind value chain and investment community, the WSI aims to establish internationally accepted, best-in-class sustainability practices for the industry.

Building a resilient and responsible wind supply chain

To meet the growing demand for electrification as well as global climate goals, wind energy must rapidly scale. Tripling annual wind installations worldwide by 2030 will require supply chains that are not only resilient and sustainable, but also inclusive and transparent. Achieving this demand requires close coordination across countries and regions, along with the development of internationally recognized, best-in-class practices. A unified approach to standards – one that aligns across key themes and regions – can streamline adoption, reduce risks and costs, build social acceptance, and enable long-term, sustainable growth for the wind sector.
